Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling CPCAB/Level 4
The course will build on students’ learning from the counselling studies course and equip students to be able to work with clients in an agency setting. This Level 4 diploma in counselling is underpinned by the person-centred model. Methods of study will include lectures, skills practices,
discussion groups, presentations and experiential workshops.
What will I be able to do after I complete this course?
This course will prepare you for further study at Level 5 in Therapeutic Counselling.
Is there anything else I need to know when considering this course?
Applicants will also be required to: - Complete a 1,000 word assignment on what counselling means to them - Complete three further assignments, case studies, presentations and a research project - Be willing to take part in all group activities - Be willing to discuss some thoughts and feelings with other group members and tutors - Be willing to give and receive verbal feedback from the others in the group - Have a commitment to exploring own values, beliefs and
attitudes - Be committed to attending lessons and doing homework and self study - Be prepared to have at least 20 hours of personal therapy, as laid down by the college - Agree to work ethically and safely at all times in conjunction with the BACP ethical framework - Become a member of the BACP or other professional counselling body - Take out indemnity insurance if it is not provided by the agency at which you do your work placement. The course is not suitable for anyone who is currently experiencing emotional or psychological problems, as it involves personal disclosure and self awareness. Dual relationships such as close friendships and intimate relationships are not permitted. Applications can be made direct to Tresham University Centre using the online application form.
