Q&A with Author Richard Rohr Author Richard Rohr What do you mean by the two halves of life? The phrase “two halves of life” was first popularized by Carl Jung, the Swiss psychologist. He says that there are two major tasks. In the first half [of life] you've got to find your identity, your significance; you create your ego boundaries, your ego structure, what I call “the creating of the container. ” But that's just to get you started. In the second half of life, once you've created your ego structure, you finally have the courage to ask: What is this all for? What am I supposed to do with this? Is it just to protect it, to promote it, to defend it, or is there some deeper purpose? The search for meaning is the task of the second half of life.
Book review: The Village By The Sea by Anita Desai
The Village by the SeaAn Indian Family StorybyAnita DesaiAlliedPrice: Rs 35; Pages: 156 A boy of 12, a girl of 13, two small girls, a mother eaten up by anaemia, a father rotten with toddy, a coastal village still largely untouched by the temptations of city life, and the great city Bombay, only a handful of kilometres away by train. Such is the stuff of The Village By The Sea, Anita Desai's short novel for children, which last fortnight won her the 1982 Guardian award for children's fiction, an annual award given to a work of fiction for children by a British or Commonwealth author.
So many things to say about this book. First, I would like to mention my history with the Horus Heresy Novels. I was a big fan of the first 5, especially Fulgrim. I had no interest in reading it, based on previous depiction of the Emperor Children's, and Graham McNeil story won me over. After that, it's been a long and painful journey for me. From "Descent of angels" to "Tales of Heresy" I went from "disappointed" to "giving up" on the Horus Heresy. I stopped reading these for a few months, untilSo many things to say about this book.

The Bell Curve
The more I read this book, the more I realize I am dumb. . . Apparently I have the lowest IQ and am considered "Mentally Retarded". Folks with low IQ include (but are not limited to) alcoholism (check), low income/long bouts of unemployment (check), and laziness (check). I have them all! The triple package! I don't think this should be a point of pride. . . If you are low IQ'd and have the attention span of a squirrel like myself, you can simply read the tables and graphs which appear every 5 pages orThe more I read this book, the more I realize I am dumb.
The Condemnation of Blackness
I picked up Dr. Muhammad's book after reading his thought-provoking article in the New York Times, "Playing the Violence Card", earlier this month. In the wake of recent murders, such as those in Florida and Oklahoma, which seem to hinge on issues of race, Dr. Muhammad asked us to scrutinize the origins of America's common conflation of blackness with criminality. By examining the use and misuse of racialized statistics, and comparing the experiences of blacks, poor whites, and european immigran I picked up Dr. Muhammad's book after reading his thought-provoking article in the New York Times, "Playing the Violence Card", earlier this month.

3. 5 ‘Don’t think, just read’ starsI’m a bit up and down when it comes to this author. Some of her work I really love, and some of it I really struggle with. This book seems to reflect that perfectly because I did enjoy this one, but I had a lot of issues as well. But if you’re in the mood for a light, funny and smutty feel-good book, and are able to overlook some ridiculous, it just may be the book for you!Quinn is an escort. After a rough life, he fell into the job, and has now been doing it fo3. 5 ‘Don’t think, just read’ starsI’m a bit up and down when it comes to this author.
The Doomsday Conspiracy
Commander Robert Bellamy is hired by the NSA to locate people that have witnessed a weather balloon, with some secret equipment, crash in the Swiss alps. They don't tell him why, and he soon realizes there is something big going on. It’s an interesting story and has much potential. Unfortunately, the big mystery culminates in a chase. Bellamy’s mission is to find the witnesses, but I would be more interested in the big discovery in the mountains if I were him. Bellamy’s search for the witnesses Commander Robert Bellamy is hired by the NSA to locate people that have witnessed a weather balloon, with some secret equipment, crash in the Swiss alps.
