Your Story, Your Words: How to Write Your Own Obituary

Your Story, Your Words: How to Write Your Own Obituary By: Katie Falzone It's a popular assignment in journalism and English classes – write your own obituary. And life coaches sometimes suggest writing your own obit as a way of figuring out how you want to live your life. Inspiring this week

It’s exactly a year since the day that I started this blog as 40PlusStyle. com. Although I started out a few months earlier under a different name, I switched it to 40PlusStyle on 15 September 2011, a name I have been very happy with. I gave myself the task to write every week day with articles in the weekend being a bonus.  Since then I have written 347 posts and this blog has received  408,149 visitors, 932,262 page views (not long before we reach 1,000,000!) and 5,485 approved comments! Thank you all so much for supporting, reading and contributing to this site! I hope the coming year will be even better, bigger and bolder with lots of you participating on the site or the forum.

A Writer's Inspirations

arielstauffer:I threw my own power out—black to black, soothing his darkness, the rough edges, willing it to calm, to soften. My darkness sang his own a lullaby, a song my wet nurse had hummed when my mother had shoved me into her arms to go back to attending parties. “It was a dream,” I said. His hand was so cold.  “It was a dream. ”Again, the dark paused. I sent my own veils of night brushing up against it, running star-flecked hands down it. How to Write a Story About Myself

There's an old adage that there's a book in everyone. True, but not everyone is a natural writer. Writing a story about yourself isn't as easy as telling it, but with a few simple rules and pointers, you can do it. This allows you to start the process of thinking about the story as a story. It doesn't have to be perfect on the recording. The recording will give you a rough idea of what you want to say and the general flow of the narrative.
